Government House (Läla Butterfly) 3D Design Model (2004 - 2009) Broadway Architects recently completed a sustainable community development for the First Nation of Na-Cho Nyäk Dun in Mayo, Yukon. The first major built project is "Government House" along with support infrastructure including a geo-exchange district heating, a central services facility as well as a number of new homes. The buildings form and siting takes advantage of passive solar gain, and water and earth energy. Its butterfly wings trap the sun. The featured Council Chamber aligns to the winter and summer soltices.
Loon Lagoon Recreation Centre (Loon) 3D Design Study (2004-2006) The Loon Lagoon Recreation Centre at Mannning Park is a geo- thermally heated building that includes a swimming pool, two hot tubs, sauna and exercise facility.
Cove Cliff Place (Rainforest) 3D Design Study - A post and beam residence "in the rainforest" overlooking beautiful Indian Arm, British Columbia Perched on a cliff in Deep Cove, North Vancouver, this home has commanding views of Burrard Inlet and the surrounding mountains. The residence has been designed to take advantage of this unique site and its intimate relationship to the treed, waterfront location. The homes sweeping curved gluam beams and fir logs pay homage to its cliff, rainforest setting.
Takhini Hot Springs Interpretive Centre (Hot Water) 3D Design Study (2006) The natural springs are the foundation of the resort near Whitehorse,Yukon. The proposed Interpretive Centre will be located at the springs source, a natural crater-like landform. The facility will be the focus of educational and interpretive programs for the eco resort community. The Interpretive Centre is envisioned as a bridge floating over the earth to minimize on-site impacts.
Tagé Cho Hudän Cultural Heritage Centre (Great River) 3D Design Study (2008) The Tagé Cho Hudän Cultural Heritage Centre will showcase the rich culture, history and environment of the Northern Tutchone people. The project is designed as a green, healthy building to reduce energy consumption and a healthy environment for visitors and staff alike.
Dunena Zra Sanch'i Ku Daycare (Dreamcatcher) Health & Social Healing Centre (Medicine, Sun, Moon) 3D Design Study - Two Adjacent Community Buildings (2008-2009) Health & Social Healing Centre (Medicine Wheel) The healing centre will provide cultural appropriate health-care programs, offering the community traditional healing, counselling , and wellness programs in conjunction with western based health care services. The sacred circle and its relationship to the skyscape is used as a design metaphor for the building - a symbol of healing, denoting restoration, renewal and finding balance. Dunena Zra Sanch'i Ku Daycare (Dreamcatcher) Care is provided for 4 distinct age groups: infants, toddlers, pre- school and after school. The dreamcatcher has been used as a design metaphor for the building - symbolizing protection.
