NND Sustainable Development Plan
(Sun, Earth, Water)
Towards An Eco Village Community
Mayo, Yukon (2004 - 2010)

Broadway Architects recently completed Phase 1 of a sustainable community development for the First Nation of Na-Cho Nyäk Dun in Mayo, Yukon. The overall master concept plan accommodates housing, recreational, community and administrative facilities.

The first major structure in the development is a 20,000 sf (1,860 m2) administration and community facility, “Government House”, as well as a geo-exchange district heating & services building, and eight new homes.

In keeping with a sustainabilty mandate, construction projects to date have been self-built by the First Nation utilizing local resources and community labour where possible.

Future plans for the community include: elders housing, a community heritage centre, additional family & singles housing, a daycare, works yard, playing fields, roadworks and trail upgrades.
