Strathcona Community Centre (Hilltop)
Calgary, Alberta  Situated on a prominent hilltop in the Strathcona community, the facility has sweeping views of the City of Calgary skyline, foothills and Rocky Mountains beyond. The Strathcona Community Centre's two major functions are a recreation-banquet hall and a community lounge. A double volume foyer offers the public a clear view of the internal functions and external relationships, while providing management with effective surveillance and security control. The building entrance (on the upper side of the slope) has a low scale residential quality. The Community Centre's form with articulated roofs and gables integrates with the adjacent residential neighbourhood. |
