Dunena Zra Sanch'i Ku Daycare (Dreamcatcher)
Little Salmon Carmacks First Nation

Carmacks, Yukon (Under Construction 2010)

The Dunena Zra Sanch’i Ku Daycare will provide a nurturing environment, trained staff and educational and recreational programs for enriching the lives of pre-school and school age children. The new sustainable environmental designed daycare will accommodate four distinct age groups: infants, toddlers, pre-school and after-school.

The Dreamcatcher has been used as a design metaphor for the green building -  symbolizing protection.

In many First Nation cultures, dreamcatchers are a mythological tool used to assure good dreams. As per legend, only good dreams can pass through the center while bad dreams are caught in the webbing and disappear with the light of day - into the magic of sunlight.
